Bachelors and Masters Degree
in Geology from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1971, 1974)
Employed
with the Tennessee Department of Transportation since 1972 in the field
of Engineering Geology. Currently heads the geo-technical engineering
office with TDOT in Knoxville. Authored numerous technical papers
dealing with karst, landslides, and other geo-technical issues related
to highways.
Authored two books on
geology: A Roadside Guide to the Geology Of The Great Smoky Mountains
National Park, (1988, UT Press), and A Geologic Trip Across Tennessee
By Interstate 40, (1994, UT Press). His third book, published in the
summer of 2001 is "Discovering October Roads", geology and human
history of fall color
drives in East Tennessee, UT Press; His fourth book, "The Bone
Hunters:the story of the Gray Fossil Site in Tennessee" is due to be
released in the
summer of 2004, Univ. of Tenn Press.
Currently holds Professional
Geologist License in Tennessee and Georgia. Resides in Blaine, Tennessee
